Legend has it that Ba Den Mountain was formerly called Mot Mountain,
and on the top of the mountain was a very sacred stone Buddha statue.
The villagers invited each other to clear the way up the mountain to worship Buddha.
People often have to go up the mountain to worship in groups because in the past
there were many wild animals along the way.
At that time, Thien Huong was a beautiful, gentle girl and the daughter of a
well-educated family, so she was noticed by many people. On every full moon day,
she often goes up the mountain to worship Buddha. In the village, there was a guy named Le
Si Triet, an orphan of both parents, who was raised by monk Tri Tan to be good at literature
and martial arts, and also expressed his affection for her.
Seeing her beauty, a mandarin intended to use force to capture her and take
her as his concubine. He ordered a martial arts master to carry out a trick. One time,
Thien Huong went up the mountain to worship Buddha and was immediately rounded up.
In the midst of danger, Le Si Triet rushed in to chase her away and save her from the cruel hands of that mandarin.
Returning home, she recounted the incident. To repay him, Thien Huong's parents promised to
marry her to Le Si Triet. But in the middle of the chaos, before the two could get married,
young Le Si Triet had to join the army to fight against the Tay Son. She promised to stay home,
keep her reputation intact, and wait for her husband.
When Le Si Triet joined the army and stayed at home while going up
the mountain to worship Buddha and visit monk Tri Tan, he was surrounded
by the previous group of bad guys and tried to humiliate him. To keep her virginity,
she jumped into the ravine to die.
In the first dream: she appeared to monk Tri Tan, in the form of a black woman
and told the whole story: "My family name is Ly. When I was 18 years old, I was chased
here by evil people.
luckily fell into the pit and died.
Now that I have completed my life of practice, I would like to ask the Venerable to go down to the
southeast mountainside to find my body and bury it for me." After hearing the story, the monk woke up and
sent someone to find her body and bring it back for burial. Therefore, the monk called her Black Lady and
later generations called her Black Lady to express their respect.
The second dream was when Lord Nguyen Anh was chased away by the Tay Son army and ran to
Ba Den Mountain to hide. Lack of food, from lords to soldiers, everyone was starving.
Hearing the people here talk about the sacredness of Mrs. Den ,
in despair, Lord Nguyen Anh prayed for help. That night, Mrs. Den appeared in her dream,
showing her the way to escape to wait for the opportunity to restore her fortune and unify the country.
The time he entered the body, he had an epiphany when meeting Thuong Quoc Cong - Le Van Duyet.
It's not that this mandarin heard about the sacredness of Mrs. Den, so he was determined to find
out and promised that he would present the king's petition and ordain this Ly girl if she had a spiritual revelation.
One day, Ly Thi Thien Huong actually entered the body of a girl to talk to the Duke about
the future of this talented mandarin and her injustice, not being able to meet and live with her husband again.
became a saint and was sent to earth to save humanity.
Immediately after that, National Duke Le Van Duyet, on behalf of the king,
conferred on Thien Huong as "Linh Son Thanh Mau", carved a statue to worship and reside
on Mot Mountain, now renamed Ba Den Mountain .
